Bocchi Rocks!

Warning: Minor spoilers ahead.

Yes, I watch anime. And yes, sometimes I even(tually) write about it, even if I don’t actually review the shows. One of the series I watched on Crunchyroll last year was BOCCHI THE ROCK! It’s a fun, fairly predictable show, but there’s one scene in particular that I keep finding myself drawn to. It’s in episode eight, when the Kessoku band is playing their first real gig. When Bocchi realizes their bombing big-time, she decides that she’s not going to let it happen and, well...

Look at their faces when she starts to play. Not just the audience's, but her bandmates' as well. Everyone is shocked. Everyone but one; Kikuri Hiroi, the drunk bassist Bocchi’d played on the street with. She gives a small grunt - she knows this shit’s about to get serious - and then she spends the rest of the song smiling, not because of the music, but because the girl she’d briefly taken under her wings is finally coming alive and showing who she truly was.

It almost makes me wish I had a drunk bassist following me around, showing me the way.
